    At the High Court on Tuesday 12th June 2007, the case of the DPP vs Marlon Huggins of West Farm who was indicted on a charge of “House Breaking and Larceny” concluded. Huggins during the course of the trial changed his plea to guilty, and he was subsequently convicted and sentenced to serve five (5) years imprisonment with hard labour. The offence was committed on 25th May 2005 at Boyds Village.

     

     

     

    At the High Court on Wednesday 13th June 2007, the case of the DPP vs Trevis Stephens of Douglas Estate and Joseph Stanley of Basseterre who were indicted on a charge of “Assault Occasioning Actual Bodily Harm” concluded. Both men pleaded guilty to the charge and were each placed on a bond in the sum of $5,000.00 each for a period of three (3) years. A breach of the conditions of the bond will result in the imposition of a custodial sentence of six (6) months imprisonment. Both men were also ordered to pay compensation in the sum of $1,000.00 each to be with one month of sentencing. The offence was committed on 17th September 2006 at Ponds Pasture, Newtown.
     

    At the Basseterre Magistrate Court on Wednesday 13th June 2007, Leon Phillip of Newtown and Jervin Dowell Ritchen of Taylors Housing Project who were charged with the offence of “Possession of a Firearm with Intent to Endanger Life or Property” were committed to stand trial at the September 2007 Criminal Assizes.

     

     

     

                Between 12th and 14th June 207 following persons were arrested and charged with criminal offences;
    ·         On 12th June 2007, Vernon Parris of The Alley, Sandy Point was charged with the offence of “Larceny” committed on 30th May 2007.
     
    ·         On 13th June 2007, Elvis James of Dieppe Bay Village was charged with the offence of “Unlawful Carnal Knowledge” committed between 1st and 30th June 2007.~~Adz:Right~~
     
    ·         On 14th June 2007, nineteen-year-old (19) Macheste Viera of Rectory Road, Basseterre was charged with the offence of “Wounding with Intent to cause Grievous Bodily Harm”, when he shot a 21 twenty-one year old male of the Basseterre area in his leg on Friday 1st June 2007 on Cayon Street.
     
    Viera is the third individual charged in a separate firearm related incident committed over the past week. A fourth person will also be charged at a later date in connection this incident.
     

    On Tuesday 12th June 2007 at the Sandy Point Magistrate Court presided over by Her Worship Mrs Jenkins, the following persons were convicted; 

     

    ·         Analdo Davis of St. Pauls was convicted on a charge of “Larceny” committed on 11th June 2007 at St. Pauls Village. He was placed on a bond in the sum of $500.00 for a period of six (6) months and also ordered to perform two hundred (200) hours of community service at the St. Pauls Police Station.
     
    ·         Elsworth Boddie of Tabernacle Village was convicted of the charge of “Possession of a Controlled Drug” to wit cannabis committed on 29th May 2007 at Tabernacle. He was placed on a bond in the sum of $1000.00 for a period of six (6) months and also ordered to perform three hundred (300) hours of community service at the Tabernacle Police Station.
