BASSETERRE St. Kitts, June 8th 2011 - Almost all creativity involves purposeful play. The Fireflies Dance School believes this statement to be so true that they have chosen the theme “PLAYTIME” for this year’s recital. Why “PLAYTIME”? Because not only is play Fun, but play fosters belonging, encourages cooperation and play is also our brain’s favorite way of learning.
The entire production will showcase the three groups of the Fireflies Dance School as they present Ballet, Jazz, Hip-Hop and Afro-Caribbean dances that will highlight the different ways the dancers play, the toys they enjoy playing with and other ways they have fun.
However, getting ready for “PLAYTIME” does take hard work and commitment, so the dancers have been putting in extra hours of rehearsals under the watchful eyes of Director, Heidi Slack along with tutors Sonji Isaac and Kayla Farrell.
“PLAYTIME” is scheduled for 5pm Sunday July 3rd 2011 at the Sir Cecil Jacobs Auditorium.
The Fireflies Dance School was founded September 2005 and caters to dancers aged 3 through 10.
