BASSETERRE, St. Kitts – AN autopsy performed on the body of Delon James dispelled all doubts of foul play in the Public Works Department Chief Engineer’s death.

According to a police press release, the autopsy was conducted yesterday (June 16) by Resident Pathologist Dr. Adrian Nunez, who concluded that “death was caused as a result of congestive heart failure due to dilated cardio myopathy”.

The release stated that Dr. Nunez’s report corroborates the police’s theory of no foul play being suspected.

It also stated that “the Commissioner and High Command of the Royal St. Christopher and Nevis Police Force would like to thank the General Public for their assistance and do look forward to the continued growth in partnership with the community in the fight against crime”.

It was reported that at about 5:15 a.m. on Wednesday (June 15), the 45-year-old James suddenly collapsed in his Mattingley Heights home while in the company of a male friend.

Acting Police Press and Public Relations Officer Sergeant Stephen Hector told SKNVibes that a unit from the Emergency Medical Services was summoned but was unable to revive him.

However, Dr. Mervyn Laws, who was also summoned to the scene, pronounced him dead.

The acting PRO declared that there were no signs of foul play and it was believed that James suffered a heart attack.

He noted that the police had recommended to James’ family members that an autopsy should be performed on the body to determine the exact cause of death.
