Miss Culture Queen 2011, Miss Culture Swimwear and Mr. Kool Contestants launch this evening

    CHARLESTOWN,  Nevis, June 13, 2011 - Contestants for 2011 Miss Culture Queen Pageant, Miss Culture Swimwear and Mr Kool contestants will be launched at a ceremony scheduled to be held this evening at the Arthur Evelyn Building in Charlestown.

     

    A cultural show that starts at 4.00 p.m will precede the long awaited launch of the constestants.at 5.00 p.m.

     

    This year, six young ladies will vie for the coveted Miss Culture Queen Pageant and four young ladies will vie for  Ms Culture Swimwear and four males for the Mr Kool Competition.

     

    The Ms Culture Swimwear and the Mr Kool Competition will be held on the same night July 24, 2011 while the Miss Culture Queen Pageant will be held on July 31,2011.

     

    The Ms Culture Pageants according to Chairperson of the Ms Culture Pageants sub-Committee Mrs Nichole Lawrence showcases not only beauty and talent but intelligence: “The Pageants are not only about  pretty faces and parading on stage but about the development and empowerment of young people. We prepare contestants for life. The training they receive should assist the contestants in making more informed and well-rounded citizens. There should be a transformation when they take part in these Pageants”.

     

    The contestants are currently in training which includes exercise, posture, poise, walk, on-stage presentation, media and interview, current affairs, personal development, social graces, self esteem, personal hygiene, nutrition, confidence building, communication, bio preparation, professional make-up techniques, grooming and image development and wardrobe selection.

     

    The contestants have already participated in  photo shoots.  This is part of the activities that will help project positive images of the contestants to the public from the week of June 19th 

     

    The contestants will be formally sashed by their sponsors on Wednesday June 22 at a talent preview event called Pageantry: My Voice at the Pinney’s Beach Hotel. On Thursday July 7 starting at 8pm at the Rumours Bar and Grill the contestants in the Ms Culture Swimwear and the Mr Kool Shows will take part in a live interview, while on Thursday July 15 the contestants in the Miss Culture Queen Pageant starting at 8pm at the Nisbet Plantation Beach Club will take part in a live interview.

     

    They will pay courtesy calls to  the Premier of Nevis, Hon Joseph Parry and the Minister of Health and Social Development,Hon Hensley Daniel on Wednesday July 6.  They will visit their sponsors between 6th and 13 of July.

     

    The Ms Culture Swimwear contestants will be judged in three categories: One-Piece Swimwear 50 points, Two-Piece Swimwear 50 points and Creative Swimwear 70 points.

     


    The Mr Kool contestants will also be judged in three categories: Swimwear 50 points, Physical Sportswear 50 points and Creative Swimwear 70 points. 

     

    The Creative Swimwear Segment is a fantasy segment where the contestants will perform and present their Swimwear using the themes Wild Mas, Jungle Fever, Out of Africa, Ship Ahoy and Festival Jamboree.

     

    The Miss Culture Queen contestants will be judged in four categories – Nevisian Cultural Wear 50 points, Talent 70 points, Evening Wear 50 points and Interview 70 points.
