Delphic Newtown United apologizes

Press Release

BASSETERRE St. Kitts, June 17th 2011 - The Newtown Sports Club hereby apologizes on the behalf of our Premier League football team, Delphic Newtown United, for the behaviour displayed by our players on Sunday, 12th June, 2011. We direct this apology to the SKNFA, persons present at the game against S L Horsfords St. Pauls Football Team, our ardent supporters, sponsors, the wider football community and all other persons who were rightfully offended by our players’ action in leaving the pitch prematurely.

We also wish to indicate that no members of our management/coaching staff condoned or participated in the actions of the players. All players involved have acknowledged their mistake and have taken full responsibility for their actions. We intend to repay our debt to the community at large through public service and positive action henceforth.

We are a club with a rich history of sporting excellence, community involvement, and youth development. Our players’ actions on Sunday, 12th June, 2011 do not reflect our ideals and tread on our history, but we ensure that such actions will never occur in the future.
