BASSETERRE, St. Kitts – AFTER trampling SDP FC 3-1 in the second of the best of three games in the Final Four Competition, Cayon FC were crowned champions and have earned themselves promotion into the Premier League.

After a 4-1 drubbing in the first of the best in three Finals on Tuesday, last, SDP were out last evening (June 16) at the Warner Park Stadium to halt Cayon’s advancement into the Premier League by securing a win; therefore, ensuring a third encounter.

However, their hopes were dashed even before the sound of the final whistle.

This was evident in the fast-paced strategy employed by Cayon from the moment the game began, as Leroy Daniel, their number one striker, proved why he has scored the most goals for his team when he laid the ball to rest in the back of SDP’s goal in the 23rd minute.

As the game looked more likely to end in Cayon’s favour, SDP found hope in Julian Benjamin when he tucked the ball into the back of the nets on the 45th minute mark.

With the score line now 1-all and signs of improvement in their strategy, a ray of golden light was seemingly shining in SDP’s path.
At the start of the second half, the game seemed to be heading for a draw with SDP getting the better of chances to lead, but failed to do so.

With time drawing near to the end, Cayon struck twice with Tyrone O’Loughlin scoring their second goal in the 89th minute and Kurtley Small following him in the 90th minute.

Al Edwards, Manager/Coach of Cayon FC, spoke with SKNVibes after the game and expressed how happy he was about winning the title and re-entering the Premier League after long term planning.

“I just want to make it clear to all the Premier League teams that we are head-hunting and also welcoming back players who left to go to other teams after relegation some sixyears ago.” Edwards added.

Leroy Daniel was commented on as Cayon’s Most Valuable Player with 36 goals. Commendable statements were also made about Troy Miller and Tyrone O’Loughlin, who are all Cayon strikers.
