BASSETERRE, St. Kitts – JAVEIM BLANCHETTE and indeed his parents, friends and supporters can all be proud as the young man copped a unique honour by being featured in his school’s (Elizabeth Town) magazine for spring 2011.

The 50-page, full color Elizabeth Town Magazine dedicated a half page space to speak of how Blanchette came to the college and his exploits on the football field.

An excerpt from that article reads, “Blanchette…an outstanding athlete, had lots of options for his college education. He found Elizabeth Town College through fellow countryman Craig ‘Marlon’ Tyrell who is the soccer coach at Palmyra High School.”

Further into the article, the writer recorded his performance for the school team on the field of play and some of the accolades bestowed on him.

In 2010, Blanchette led the Blue Jays with 8 goals, with points in 20 and shots on goal with 37. He was also tied in first place for assists with 4. As a result of these top rankings (points, assists and goals), he was named to the All-Commonwealth Conference First Team.

Additionally he was a National Soccer Coaches Association of America/Performance Subaru All Mid Atlantic Region Selection.

The article is complimented with an action shot of Blanchette weaving through a couple of defenders during a game in the 2010 season.

During that time, Blanchette had returned home to compete for St. Kitts/Nevis in the Under 20 competition in Curacao.  Hence, the honour capped an outstanding season for this young Kittitian footballer who competed and performed well for two teams –St. Kitts/Nevis national team and his College team the Blue Jays.

In an interview with SKNVibes, Blanchette said, “I am real happy about what I have accomplished and being featured in the magazine, because I’m the only player from the team that was featured in the magazine. And it is really a great achievement, knowing that I’m from a small country such as St. Kitts.”

Blanchette noted that he would be returning to Elizabeth Town in August to continue his studies and is also looking forward to more football achievements, as he was hinted to be his team’s captain for the next season.

Before leaving in August, Blanchette will be playing with the St. Kitts U-23 team in the qualifiers in July.

He also plays for the SL Horsford’s St. Paul’s FC in the Premier Division, and now that his home team are in the finals for the Final Four Competition, he said they are looking to win the cup and once again be known as champions.
