BASSETERRE St. Kitts – THE ANTICIPATION is over as iRepSKN finally opened its doors at a place where fans can shop in person for official St. Kitts-Nevis patriotic clothing and accessories – and just in time for the Music Festival too!
The opening took place yesterday (June 23) at the store’s location at Porte Zante (next door to Scoops) at 5:00 p.m.
Customers came out in their numbers to witness the long awaited opening and grab at the chance to purchase clothing that boldly represents the nation of their birth.
After doors opened for the first time, patrons soon filled the store and in the time span of one hour the business was considered a big ‘hit’.
The store sells a wide variety of clothing for men, women, girls, boys of all sizes. It even caters to babies. The variety includes t-shirts, baby-tees, tank tops, dresses, ‘hoodies’, swim suits, tights, ‘onesies’, jeans and even underwear.
iRepSKN was founded by Kittitian nationals Jay and Marva Weeks who live in Florida.
Jay said that it started out as a social network geared toward bringing the people of St. Kitts and Nevis together.
This social network gathered a wide array of fans wanting to ‘rep SKN’ and it was from this that his wife, Marva, being in the fashion industry, came up with the idea of the clothing line ‘iRepSKN’.
He said that after establishing the clothing line, he and his wife received hundreds of orders weekly from persons wanting to purchase clothes.
He further stated that they often received messages from persons saying that they [founders] needed to open a store in St. Kitts.
“The fans wanted a store and we are giving it to them,” he said.
He said that the music artist, Dagah became the face of iRepSKN as a result of his song ‘Rep my City’.
“Dagah and I went to school together and he was also a part of the social network. It just so happen that at the time my wife and I started advertising iRepSKN, it was around that same time that he came out with the song ‘Rep my city’, which is also the song we used for our advertisement. It just seemed fitting to use him as the face of iRepSKN,” he explained.
The Nevis fans have not been left out as plans are underway to have a store opened there as well.
Apart from the Nevis store, iRepSKN has lots in store for their fans and in the near future, they can expect a wide variety of shoes, weaves, and bags among other items.
The iRepSKN store will be open from Monday to Saturday 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
