In an effort to address and improve delivery of service in the public and private sectors in St Kitts, the Tourism Authority in partnership with the Freeman Group, has initiated one-day workshops on service excellence. The two entities have banded together to form the Service Standards and Training Program, otherwise known as PROMISES.
The program seeks to raise the level of service by employees in the hospitality and tourism sectors through training and follow-up. In April this year, the destination was assessed by mystery shoppers who evaluated the behaviour patterns of frontline workers in the services sector such as Customs, Immigration, hotels and taxi-drivers. The workshops last week therefore represented the first in a series designed to fill the gaps, and to place the nation as a leading tourism destination. Long-term sustainability will be encouraged through a team of certified local personnel. ~~Adz:Right~~
Human Resource Manager for the St. Kitts Tourism Authority, Novelette Morton said that the participants are now “Fired up, positive and motivated to deliver better service.” She also stated, “Everybody must be on the same page, because good service standards are a team effort,” speaking to the fact that later in the year there will be a workshop directed at managers and supervisors.
The workshops began on July 10 and ended July 12 at the Ocean Terrace Inn.
