UNESCO Youth PATH participant Mauricia White enjoys lunch on a boat

UNESCO Youth PATH (Poverty Alleviation through Tourism and Heritage) students had the opportunity to meet teenagers from the United States recently, as the Sail Caribbean program docked once again at the marina in Basseterre, St. Kitts.

The group visited Brimstone Hill, Craft House and the SNAPPER project in St. Kitts while also participating in ice-breakers to encourage all the participants to get to know each other.

The UNESCO Youth PATH is a regional initiative, and the current project in St. Kitts is based in St. Paul’s. The project is designed to help young people aged 15 to 25 in eight Caribbean countries through community, natural and cultural heritage tourism education.

Sail Caribbean is a summer camp on the ocean wherein teens from all over the world have the chance to learn to sail, participate in community service projects, and learn about environmentalism while experiencing new cultures.

Sail Caribbean will return to Basseterre to meet with the UNESCO Youth PATH students twice more this summer to participate in a community service project and learn more about the culture and people of St. Kitts.
