Gerber has recalled its Gerber Organic Rice and Organic Oatmeal because they pose a choking hazard

 

Florham Park, USA, July 16, 2007 - Gerber baby organic rice and oatmeal cereals distributed across Puerto Rico and the Caribbean and nationwide, are being recalled.

 

The company said the baby food is being recalled over a potential choking hazard because some of the packages contain lumps that will not dissolve in milk. The lumps can cause young children to choke. Gerber says it has had complaints of choking but no reports of injury.

All codes of the two products, some 475,000 packages, sold in eight-ounce boxes, are being recalled. Customers can call Gerber at (800) 443-7237 or (231) 928-3000 to return the product and receive a refund.
