Police Press Release

    The following persons were convicted at the Basseterre Magistrate Court on Monday 16th July 2007;

     

    ·         Kenrick Thomas of Upper College Street, Basseterre was convicted on a charge of “Robbery” committed on 30th October 2006. He was subsequently sentenced to serve six (6) months imprisonment with hard labour.
     
    ·        Mercia Wharton was convicted and Charged For "Receiving" committed between November 2006 and January 2007. She was subsequently convicted and fined $8000.00 to be paid in two (2) months or in default to serve one (1) month imprisonment.  ~~Adz:Right~~
     
    ·         Mervin Young of Upper Market Street was convicted on a charge of “Making use of Threatening Language” committed on 27th November 2006. He was subsequently placed on a bond in the sum of $1,000.00 to keep the peace and be of good behaviour for a period of two (2) years. Young was also ordered not to have any contact with the victim in the case. A breach of any of these conditions will result in the forfeiture of the bond and in default of payment a sentence of one (1) month imprisonment with hard labour will be imposed.
     
     
    On Tuesday 17th July 2007, Mariska James of Cunningham Village, Lower Cayon was charged with the offence of “Wounding with Intent to Cause Grievous Bodily Harm”. The offence was committed on 16th July 2007 at Cayon when James used a knife to attack and wound an eighteen-year-old female of the Cayon area.
