    Basseterre, St. Kitts (July 26, 2004): The Department of Youth and numerous volunteers are making final preparations for the hosting of two Caricom Youth Strategic Planning Stakeholder Workshops.
     
    Over 100 regional officials of CARICOM, UNICEF, Directors of Youth, National HIV/AIDS Coordinators and Caricom Youth Ambassadors will be attending the workshops which run from July 31 to August 06, 2004. 

    The first training session deals specifically with the Caricom Youth Ambassadors Programme which by means of the workshop will fine-tune the implementation of the programme, participants consist chiefly of Caricom Youth Ambassadors.  Delegates of the second workshop includes Youth Ambassadors but will also bring together 30 to 40 additional participants including directors of youth and national HIV/AIDS Programme Coordinators who will develop a strategy for youth involvement in HIV/AIDS prevention and support.
     
    Issues to be discussed during the first workshop include “History, evolution and outcomes of Youth led governance in the Caribbean,” “Caricom Single Market and Economy - issues, challenges and opportunities” and “Youth unemployment - challenges and opportunities.”
     
    The second workshop will have sessions titled: “HIV/AIDS/STI’s - youth profiles and prevalence,” “HIV/AIDS peer education module for out-of-school youth,” and “HIV/AIDS advocacy and education through Theatre and Drama.”
