Digicel continues to support the development of Sport in Federation

    BASSETERRE, St. Kitts,  July 4th, 2011 – Digicel -The Bigger, Better Network, one of the leading contributors to the development of Sport in St. Kitts and Nevis recently provided financial support to two major sporting activities in the Federation – Football and Netball.

     

    With the kind sponsorship from Digicel, the “Veteranz” Football Team will be taking part in the 2nd Annual Tabernacle Mini Soccer League, which kicked off this past Sunday 3rd July, at the Edgar Morris Primary School playground.

     

    A total of six teams will be participating this year and players range from ages 12 to 45 years. President of the Tabernacle Football League, Mr. Adrian James, on accepting the host team jerseys thanked Digicel for “continuing to support football in St. Kitts and we promise you that the “Veteranz” will do our best in making Digicel proud.”

     

    In addition to sponsoring the jerseys for the football team, Digicel has contributed the Championship Trophy and medals for the players of the winning team.

     

    The Tabernacle Mini Soccer League continues until 30th July, 2011.From July 1st to July 7th, the Pam Tyson Netball Stadium comes alive with exciting Netball action.

     

    The St. Kitts Under 23 Netball Team has already been playing quite well in the hosted ECCB/OECS Under 23 Netball Tournament.

     

    Digicel’s cash contribution of EC$2,500 ensured that team St. Kitts secured its uniforms for participating in this Netball Tournament. Digicel was also very instrumental in providing practice t-shirts for the players and coaches for practice sessions prior to the start of the Tournament.

     

    Marketing Manager for Digicel St. Kitts and Nevis, Marsha Lindo expressed that; “Digicel continues to believe in the development of Sport in St. Kitts and Nevis and we wish both teams well in their respective games.”

     

    Digicel recently was co-sponsor of the Johnny Walker 2011 St. Kitts Golf Open, the Kim Collins Invitational Meet, The SKN Invitational Track & Field Championships, The Masters Cricket League in Nevis and the Digicel Premiere Football League.

     

    The month of July promises to be spectacular with key Digicel-endorsed Sponsorships including the Miss Caribbean Culture Pageant & the CFU’s Olympic Qualifying Tournament.
