Basseterre, St. Kitts (July 29, 2004): What is usually a regular afternoon of work at the Ministry of Information, Culture Youth and Sports Office, was quickly transformed into an atmosphere of fun, laughter and merriment, as a friendly staff showed their appreciation by having a double birthday bash in celebration of the birthdays of the Hon.
Jacinth Henry-Martin, Minister of that department and her Permanent Secretary, Lloyd Lazar who both celebrated their birthday on the 28th July 2004.
Staff members prepared cakes and patties and other finger snacks along with local drinks and other beverages that were specially prepared for this festive event.
The celebrations kicked off at approximately 4:00 pm with a few short speeches and very positive and encouraging remarks from some members of staff as well as from a few visitors who were also invited to join the party.
Little baby Zen, a baby of an employee at the Festivals Secretariat Office was also present and even gave a little speech of his own.
Birthday Bashes have fast become the norm within the Ministry and mostly comes in the form of surprises and other fun ways in an attempt to give each member of the staff a birthday celebration that he or she will never forget.

Surprise gift items of all sorts, ranging from silly post cards to fun toys, are normally presented to the person who is celebrating their birthday at that time. It is also a norm to have visitors to the Ministry at that time, joining in the celebrations and partake of the fun and social atmosphere that these joyous occasions present.
The celebrations endured for approximately one and a half hours, where Minister Henry-Martin who was very humorous and jovial, told many stories and jokes from her childhood days as she entertained the listening audience and informed them of how exciting it was to grow up in her hometown of Sandy Point.

She made mentioned of the many characters and how they received their nicknames. Many Sandy Pointers who were present were able to relate to some of the jokes and stories that were being told very much to the interest and envy of all the other participating Non-Sandy Pointers.
