We, the members of the United National Empowerment Party (UNEP) are still of the view that his Excellency the Governor General is erring badly in not appointing a Leader of Opposition in the National Assembly.
Nevertheless, his failure to appoint a Leader of the Opposition does not absolve you from carrying out your responsibilities or your duties in the nurturing of good governance. ~~Adz:Right~~
It is sad, very sad, that none of you have seized the opportunity to align yourself with another member in Opposition, to assist his Excellency the Governor General in making this extraordinarily important appointment, consistent with his constitutional obligation.
Your action or better said inaction singly and collectively, has left a great void in the Federation’s Constitutional Machinery.
Together, you have lost the opportunity to address fundamental issues with transparency. Your conduct is negatively affecting a democracy and the poor man whom you purport to represent.
The present situation calls for leadership and statesmanship in the context of our National Moto “Country Above Self”.
It is not too late to take your Parliamentary and Constitutional obligation seriously. It is not too late to approach your public duties with maturity.
A word to the wise should be enough.
