Defence Force soldier with gun drawn
|
A bizarre shooting spree in Old Road, on Friday night, August 3rd, around 8:30, has left one man dead, while being transported to the hospital, and three others nursing gun shot wounds, at the Joseph N. France General Hospital.
The initial part of the shooting happened by the Lover’s Bar, on the Main Road, and culminated by the ghaut area, close to the Sprat Net Restaurant.
The dead man is 49 year old Clyde Williams, while the three injured are a young man affectionately known as “Ado”, Jevon Woodley and an officer of the St. Kitts-Nevis Defence Force, Louis Richards.
Unconfirmed reports state that the Defence Force soldier, Richards, was hanging out around the Lover’s Bar, when he was shot in his bottom area.
Richards then stood up, and in an action seemingly indicating retaliation, pulled out a gun. ~~Adz:Right~~
Shots were then fired and the young man “Ado” was shot in his hand, while the other man, Clyde Williams, was shot in his stomach/chest area.
Richards then summoned some of his colleagues in the Defence Force and they walked across the Main Road, with guns drawn.
It is alleged that when they reached in the area just before the ghaut by Sprat Net, they met some young men, whom they fired upon. It was during this time that the third man, Jevon Woodley, was shot.
The Police and other Security Forces responded to the incident and are presently continuing their investigations.
The incident has left many residents of the area shocked and still grappling to fit the puzzle together.
According to residents, the Defence Force officer and some young men of the Old Road area had tense relations.
Interestingly, it is also being speculated that the same officer was dismembered from the Strike Force Unit, after an altercation with another young man, whom he stabbed and wounded.
Additionally, he was also involved in another shooting incident sometime before, on the Basseterre Bay Road, around the Bus Terminal.
Indeed, the shooting has triggered an outpouring of emotions from a number of residents in the community.
