St. Kitts and Nevis Pathfinder Congressoree a success!

By: Dentrecia Blanchette, Press Release

BASSETERRE St. Kitts, July 6th 2011 - They came from throughout the Federation, dressed in either Khaki or white shirts that were decorated with colorful insignia, green skirts and pants, white socks and green sashes, yellow scarves and excited faces, all ready to celebrate another Pathfinder Congressoree.

During July 1st through 3rd 2011, more than two hundred Pathfinders, Adventurers, Eager Beavers and Seventh-day Adventist church members participated in the annual St. Kitts and Nevis Pathfinder Congressoree in Charlestown, Nevis.

Under the auspices of the South Leeward Mission (SLM), the theme for this year’s Congressoree was “Passionately Responding to the Call of Christ with Anticipation of His Soon Coming.”

The weekend’s celebration began with a consecration service on Friday July 1st at 7:00pm. The spiritual excitement throughout the evening ranged from Pathfinders singing joyful choruses and hymns to God to participating in the Bible Search and Bible Bowl activities. These activities gave the youths a firm foundation in the bible through study, memorization and appreciation of Scripture.

On Saturday 2nd, eight Pathfinders dynamically and creatively presented five minute sermonettes on the theme of the Congressoree while three Pathfinders participated in the Morning Watch activity that tested Scriptural memorization. An investiture service was also a highlight in the morning’s events where over seventy-five Pathfinders were invested from one Pathfinder Class to another.

During the afternoon, uniformed Pathfinders, Guides and Drum Corps assembled in platoons for a parade around Charlestown. Marching in the inclement weather with banners, Club flags and the nation’s flag, Pathfinders and Seventh-day Adventist Church members littered the streets and villages of Charlestown with color and positivity. The intent was to raise public awareness on the negative effects of Child Abuse, Sexual Abuse, Child Neglect, Domestic Violence, Teenage Pregnancy and Illicit Drugs.

The Congressoree climaxed on Sunday July 3rd with a variety of youth oriented events. Some of these events included uniform inspection, craft display, sports, campcraft, display of Club booths, and drilling and marching displays.

“The Congressoree was a tremendous success. The Pathfinders rose to the challenges they faced over the weekend and exposed their talents for Christ.

The cooperation of the Church and society was excellent although the weather presented a challenge. I hope that the event grows bigger and better as the years continue,” says Youth Director of the South Leeward Mission of Seventh-day Adventists, Pastor Kendol Doyle.

The Pathfinder Club is a worldwide organization for young people sponsored by the Seventh-day Adventist Church. The Club offers camping and survival skills, leadership training, outreach activities, spiritual and personal guidance.
