Cable & Wireless today reveals its four-year sponsorship agreement with West Indies Cricket Team Captain, Brian Lara.
These sponsorship deals will allow Cable & Wireless to continue its long-term relationship with Mr Lara of whose prowess the Caribbean is so proud.
Lisa Agard, Executive Vice President Legal, Regulatory and Public Policy, says, “today’s announcement represents an integral part of the programme of sponsorships we are building in support of cricket in the Caribbean.
This sponsorship together with our regional sponsorship for Cricket World Cup 2007, and more imminently the ICC Champions trophy to be held here in the U.K in September are a clear signal of the continuation of our commitment to the development of cricket in the region.”
She also stressed that Cable & Wireless will continue our investment in local cricket in a number of the islands across the Caribbean.
Brian Lara, Captain of the West Indies team, “those of you who have been following the fortunes of West Indies cricket over the years will be aware that Cable & Wireless and cricket in the West Indies share a special relationship, one that spans many years. It is an honour for me to be part of that relationship moving forward.”
Also present at the event was Chief Executive Officer of Telecommunications Services of Trinidad & Tobago, (TSTT) Mr Sam Martin, who expressed his pleasure with the sponsorship relationship, which also extends to TSTT.
Cable & Wireless has been the official sponsor of West Indies cricket for nearly 20 years.
