    ~~Adz:Right~~ At approximately 6:45 a.m. on Monday 28th August 2007, officers of the Royal St. Christopher and Nevis Police Force responded to a report that a man was found dead in the Irishtown area.

    Officers found the body of Conrad “Yankee” Davis of Basseterre inside of a building at the corner of Lower West Bourne Ghaut and Fort Thomas Road, with what appeared to be a wound to his head.

    A post mortem will be performed at a later date to determine the cause of death.

    Any person who may have information relevant to the investigation of this incident is asked to contact the Criminal Investigations Department at 465-2241 Extension 220 / 230 / 236.

    Police are investigating a shooting incident that occurred in the Russell Village area of Basseterre at approximately 9:30 p.m. on Monday 27th August 2007. Investigations have revealed that a (20) twenty-year-old male was attacked by a lone gunman who discharged a firearm at him. No one was injured during the incident however investigations are ongoing.

    Any person(s) who may have information relevant to the investigation of this incident is asked to contact the Criminal Investigations Department at 465-2241 Extension 220 / 230 / 236.

    On 27th August 2007, the following persons were convicted at the Basseterre Magistrate Court;
    • A (16) sixteen-year-old male of Irish Town Bay Road was convicted of the offence of “House Breaking and Larceny” committed on 2nd April 2007. He was subsequently sentenced to serve two (2) months imprisonment with hard labour.

    • A (15) fifteen-year-old male of New Pond Site was convicted of the offence of “Being Found in an enclosed Premise for some unlawful purpose namely to steal” committed on 2nd August 2007. He was deemed a “Rouge and a Vagabond” and subsequently sentenced to serve six (6) months imprisonment with hard labour.

     

    The following persons were arrested and charged with offences between 25th and 27th August 2007;

    • On 25th August 2007, a seventeen-year-old male of Saddlers Village was charged with the offence of “Possession of a Controlled Drug” to wit cannabis committed on 25th August 2007.

    • On 26th August 2007, a sixteen-year-old male of Sandy Point was charged with the offence of “Unlawful Carnal Knowledge” committed on 30th May 2007.

    • On 27th August 2007, Wendell Wilkinson of Trafalgar Village was charged with the offence of “Wounding with Intent” committed on 21st August 2007.

    • On 27th August 2007, Worrell Maynard of Douglas Street, Newtown was charged with the offence of “House Breaking and Larceny” committed on 6th August 2007.

    • On 27th August 2007, Shane Eddy of King Street was charged with the offence of “Robbery” committed on 30th May 2007 at Independence Square.

    CRIME PRVENTION & SAFETY TIPS


    • If another employee suddenly walk into the middle of a robbery in progress and startle the robber, it could lead to violence. Discuss this problem situation with your employees and develop a policy and procedure for handling situations like this, based on good common sense and the sound and prudent judgement of your employees;

    • Don’t talk except to answer the robber’s questions or stare directly at him;

    • Don’t make any sudden moves and keep your hands in sight at all times, if the robber thinks you’re reaching for a weapon or alarm button your actions and furtive movements may lead the robber to violence;

    • I would not be prudent to chase or follow the robber out of your place of business as he may have an accomplice, leave the job of catching the robber to the police.
