BASSETERRE, St. Kitts – FORMER Miss Anguilla and reigning Miss Caribbean Culture 22-year-old Sangrena Harris was recently fined EC$4,980 for two counts of theft at a magistrate court in Anguilla.

SKNVibes.com learnt that last Thursday, July 7, Harris appeared before Her Worship Ivenia Benjamin to answer charges, where she pled guilty to stealing a cellular phone and other electronics.

A source in the Court and Processing department at the Royal Anguilla Police Station told SKNVibes that she stole the items when she visited “someone’s office”.

The source also said that she was represented by Barrister-At-Law in Anguilla Tommy Astaphan.

She was given two fines of EC$990 for the items and a court fine of EC$3,000.

In speaking with a member of the Anguilla Summer Festival, the person said that they do not have all of the details concerning the incident with Harris but said they are embarrassed and disappointed.

The beauty queen won the Miss Anguilla Pageant in 2009 and captured the Miss Caribbean Culture Pageant in Nevis in 2010.

In speaking with Randy Jeffers, chairperson of the Miss Caribbean Culture, he said they are awaiting official information from the Anguilla Summer Festival committee and should be releasing a statement shortly.

Other regional pageants she competed in during her Miss Anguilla reign were Miss Caribbean World, Miss Carival and Miss Caribbean Jaycees.

Just recently another beauty queen had made the news which is the 2009 Miss Honduras, when she was arrested on money laundering charges for failing to declare the equivalent of US$47,000 when entering the country.

According to the Herald.com reports stated that the beauty queen failed to declare the money when she crossed the border from the city of Esteli in Nicaragua.

The money was said to have been earned from working as a model in Europe.

The Honduran law states that travellers must declare to customs that they are carrying more than US$10,000. The beauty queen was arrested along with a Nicaraguan driver.
