~~Adz:Left~~The election of the new board and a review of recent and upcoming activities were the main items of business at the recent Annual General Meeting of the St Kitts and Nevis Hotel and Tourism Association, held at the Four Seasons Resort in Nevis. The President of the HTA, Kishu Chandiramani, presented a report on the association's activities since the last AGM. These included the appointment of the new HTA manager, Michael Head, who joined the organization in June of this year. Mr. Chandiramani also gave a brief outline of the projects for the next few months.
Michael Head then presented his report, which included more details on upcoming projects that will include:
- The chef of the year competition to be held in October at the Royal St. Kitts Hotel and Casino.
- A lunch meeting in the first week of Tourism Monthwhere it is hoped the President and Chief Executive of The Caribbean Hotel Association will accept the HTA's invitation to attend and deliver the keynote speech.
- The advertising campaign the HTA is to run from October onwards to sensitize citizens to the importance of tourism, how clean beaches and good customer service are essential to the country's main industry, and how crime can negatively effect tourism.
Head also announced that the HTA will be launching a St Kitts Visitor channel on Cable television in December of this year as a vehicle for tourism-related advertisers to promote their products and services on TV in hotels and homes.
The members then voted on the board to run the Association for the next
