The Royal St. Kitts Golf Club has recently begun involvement in an exciting environmental improvement program for our golf course. The Audubon Cooperative Sanctuary Program (ASCP) provides information, guidance, and support to help golf courses conduct proactive environmental projects that benefit people as well as our environment. Currently we already have many sound environmental practices in place and this program will help us expand upon these while gaining recognition for our efforts.
~~Adz:Left~~ The program addresses five key environmental quality areas: Wildlife and Habitat Management, Chemical Use Safety and Reduction, Water Conservation, Water Quality Management, and Outreach and Education. Currently under review is our Site Assessment and Environmental Plan. This gives Audubon International an idea of our organization and the goals we wish to achieve to move our course forwards towards certification.
Once we have implemented a variety of projects in each environmental component, we can apply to become a Certified Audubon Cooperative Sanctuary. This distinction is an international recognition of environmental stewardship given to organizations that are taking a leadership role in conservation projects. We believe we can achieve certification by years end---but we need everyone’s involvement to achieve success!
Environmental quality is important to our golf course. We hope you’ll support this effort every step of the way.
