Cable & Wireless Press Release
St. Kitts & Nevis – September 6 2007 – Today the leading full-service telecommunications provider in the Caribbean announced it is providing major upgrades in speed and value to its broadband customers throughout the region. Customers will enjoy service that’s up to four times faster, with the lowest-end packages offering speed up to 2 MEG, without increases in price.

“Today’s announcement is evidence of two things,” said Chief Executive Officer, Cable & Wireless Americas & Caribbean Chris Hetherington, “First, it reveals our commitment to providing our customers with world-class technology, access to information, and the overall best value proposition in the marketplace. Second, it shows that we are delivering on our company strategy to maintain and build upon our broadband leadership position in the markets where we operate.”

Hetherington revealed that today’s launches are just some of the fruits of a three-year, US$140 million investment in Cable & Wireless’ Next Generation Network -- physical and operational infrastructure improvements – for the Americas & Caribbean region.

Choosing a broadband package is now easier for customers of Cable & Wireless, with three simple, straight-forward plans for consumers: Mega, Mega Plus, and Mega Max; and three plans for small-to-medium sized businesses: Premier, Premier Plus, and Premier Max. Each plan is designed for a specific type of customer, so people can choose based on their needs. All plans come with free features such as 24/7 call center support, backup Dial-Up, email accounts, web pages and more.

The upgraded broadband services launch which is a region-wide roll out also signifies a shift to the name Cable & Wireless Broadband for all Broadband services across the region. According to Patricia Walters, Chief Executive of Cable & Wireless St. Kitts and Nevis, the shift from Xnet to Cable & Wireless Broadband will take place over the next few months, and will enable the Cable & Wireless St. Kitts & Nevis business to enjoy the benefits and efficiencies of a single, powerful regional broadband brand.

“Cable & Wireless is extremely proud of the leading role it continues to take in ensuring that internet access is affordable to a wide cross section of the citizenry of St. Kitts & Nevis. We are also pleased to announce that we shall upgrade and provide where there is none, our broadband services free of cost to schools across St. Kitts & Nevis, in Phase II of our internet for schools project. We are adamant that no child should be left behind because of lack of access to the World Wide Web,” the Chief Executive added.

An official launch event is being planned for Friday 7th September at the company’s downtown office beginning at 4pm to which the general public is invited.
