~~Adz:Left~~Enhancing Customer Experience is the theme of the upcoming Pre-Independence Luncheon Meeting of the Chamber of Industry and Commerce scheduled for Wednesday, September 12, 2007 at Ocean Terrace Inn, starting at 12 noon.

Executive Director of the CIC, Wendy Phipps, announced that the feature address at the luncheon will be delivered by Mr Steven De Freitas of Trinidad and Tobago.  Ms Phipps said,

“Mr De Freitas is the Country Manager for Federal Express (Fedex) Latin America & Caribbean Division, based in Trinidad and Tobago.  He will be sharing with the Chamber’s membership and other invited guests his company’s customer care beliefs and practices which have helped to shape the Fedex success story over the past 34 years.  It is expected that Mr De Freitas will also be discussing with the Chamber his company’s views on the imperatives for customer care, and why customer satisfaction is an ongoing, never-ending process if businesses are to stay on top of their game and remain competitive.”

Ms Phipps indicated that Mr De Freitas’ presentation is the direct result of a Federal Express initiative to co-sponsor the Chamber’s quarterly luncheon meeting.  In appreciation of Fedex’s private sector customer base in St. Kitts and Nevis, the Fedex/Chamber luncheon sponsorship also includes (a) subsidizing the regular cost of the luncheon and (b) the presentation of a Fedex portfolio to every luncheon attendee.

In providing a brief background on Fedex, Ms Phipps stated that the local company has been a Chamber member for almost 10 years, but is part of a worldwide business network led by Fedex Corporation which is comprised of seven companies operating and competing collectively under the Fedex name.  These companies are as follows:-

    -                      Fedex Express
    -                      Fedex Ground
    -                      Fedex Freight
    -                      Fedex Kinko’s Office and Print Services
    -                      Fedex Custom Critical
    -                      Fedex Trade Networks, and
    -                      Fedex Services

Together, these seven entities combine to create a diversified mix of different yet related companies.  It is interesting to note that several of these Fedex entities are themselves conglomerates, having previously acquired various American firms with interests in customs brokerage, freight forwarding - including ocean freight, business services, stationery and school supplies,  and supply chain management.
