~~Adz:Left~~ The Government of St. Kitts and Nevis through the Ministry of Public Works, Utilities, Transport and Post will be hosting the 16th Annual CWWA Conference and Exhibition from October 1-5, 2007 at the St. Kitts Marriott Resort & Royal Beach Casino. The Caribbean Water and Wastewater Association (CWWA) was conceptualized out of the annual Caribbean Water Engineers Conference in the late 1980’s.  The Association was registered as a Non-Government Organization (NGO) in 1991 by an Act of Parliament (No. 8 of 1991) in the Republic of Trinidad and Tobago.

The CWWA is committed to the advancement of the science, practice and management of water supply and waste disposal for the benefit of the Caribbean people through the development of human resources, public information, and professionalism, as well as promotion of appropriate technologies in the water, wastewater, and solid waste sectors. Since its introduction in 1992, the annual conference which is hosted on a rotational basis by various Caribbean countries has been the major event of the Association.

Through its annual conference and exhibition, the CWWA provides a forum for practitioners in the water and waste sectors to interact, share experiences and best practices; as well as gain exposure to the latest products and technologies on the market.

This year’s theme is “Integrating Water and Sanitation in Sustainable Development,” which is meant to reflect the vital role that water and waste management plays in the overall socio-economical, political and environmental development of a country and hence the need to ensure that we always include this sector in our planning and development process. It goes on to remind us that freshwater in particular is a limited, finite resource especially in small, ecologically-sensitive islands.
