    Charlestown Nevis (August 12, 2004) Nicole Pickering, a fourth grade student of the Combermere Primary School has been adjudged as Nevis’ winner in the 2004 Condé Nast Essay Competition.
     
    According to a press release from the Ministry of Tourism in the Nevis Island Administration, Nicole’s essay was chosen by the Caribbean Tourism Organisation Selection Committee and would be entering in the final round, along with other participants from the Caribbean for the grand prize.
     
    The press release also stated that as the island’s winner, Nicole would be invited to attend the 27th Annual Caribbean Tourism Conference to be held in Aruba, in October 2004. During this conference, the overall regional winner will receive US$2000.00 prize and a special certificate from Condé Nast Traveler.
     
    Nicole’s essay was one of twenty entries in the local leg of the contest and the topic was “What is the one thing that a vacation on your island offers that you can get nowhere else?”  
     
    Ms Kira Morton of the Charlestown Primary School won the essay last year.
