School’s Out Summer Bounce at G-Spot
By: Cherisse M. Sutton-Jeffers, SKNVibes

BASSETERRE, St. Kitts – AS another exciting weekend has passed, it is now time to get back into the weekly work routine. However, before doing so, here is a recap of some of the activities that took place over the weekend.

On Friday, many people followed the dress code of the ‘Freaky Friday Summer Bounce’ held at Club Kactus. The party began getting ‘jiggy’ and packed with patrons sometime around 2:00 a.m., but it came to an unprecedented end at 2:33 a.m. because of a power outage.

As a result of that, many people expressed their frustration in various ways, including the use of expletives, as there were no generators to rectify the situation. Some of them had gathered outside the venue with the hope that power would have been restored, which it did for about five minutes and was off again.

Many patrons wanted to know if they would be refunded or if there would be another event planned to makeup for the incident.

Therefore, SKNVibes contacted one of the organisers who indicated that a compensatory event would be held next month and females would only pay $10 to party all night.

However, it was down to the Frigate Bay Strip for many individuals who refused to let the night go to waste, and despite the small crowds music was blaring from the bars on the beach.

Saturday, saw three successful major events. But, you (our readers) will have to be the judge in determining which one was the event of the night?

De Green Valley Pub in Cayon was indeed an atmosphere of ‘Summer Madness’ as many partied in the rain which fell sporadically.

One female said she had a blast and wished the party did not have to end; but it did so shortly before 6:00 a.m.

In the western side of the country, SKNVibes stopped at Sprat Net which had a full parking lot and the numbers on the inside were proof of that.

DJ’s warmed up the night but it was clear that patrons wanted the ‘country band’- Small Axe - to jam them all night, judging from their excitement to its introduction.

One man said he thought the band gave a splendid performance and that it was the one most people came out to hear fresh from their tour.

The Evolution Family, who is responsible for organising the event, indicated that there would be a part two of the event.

Some villages away, the G-Spot was full to capacity and the night went down well although rain had many patrons crammed under a tent for a short while.

Regardless of that, people continued to enjoy themselves and anybody who did not want to be ‘rubbed on’ had to leave the tent because, as the DJ’s said, “A party we a party…we no come dance to stand up.”

The DJ’s played all the right tunes leaving no room for boredom and had patrons throwing their hands in the air and beating on the walls of the venue.

There were many females dressed in school uniforms with extra short skirts ready to be expelled or receive detention, while there were also a few guys dressed like school boys carrying markers and having people put their signatures on their shirts.

Sunday night saw the reopening of Coopers which had been closed for sometime.

The venue, situated on the outskirts of Dieppe Bay Village, had a large turnout and much excitement, which by the end of the night left one mike man hoarse.

The event ended in the wee hours of the morning and caused many to wonder if they would be able to wake up and face the Monday morning work day.
