    Parliamentary Representative for Constituency #8 Hon. Cedric Liburd.
    Basseterre, St. Kitts (August 12, 2004): Parliamentary Representative for Constituency #8 Hon. Cedric Liburd told SKNIS that he is committed to transforming the infrastructure of Cayon.
     
    This he said, will solidify its qualification as a fully functional town.
     
    Minister Liburd made the comments at Cabbage Tree, Cayon where roads are being paved and a new drainage system is being installed.
     
    “Today, I am really pleased to see the machines and the workers are out,” he said adding that the completion time is relatively short.
     
    He mentioned that the residents are congratulating him for his efforts as the spread of dust will be significantly reduced thereby improving the amenity of the area.

    The parliamentary representative explained that the project commenced during his first term and he is pleased to see the next stage of development.  Just across the road, the Cayon community centre is being constructed.
     
    Minister Liburd explained that additional facilities including a post office, library, computer laboratory, doctor’s office and performance area will be accommodated in the structure.
     
    This multipurpose facility will greatly aid the development of residents. He added that the momentum will be continued for the institutional and commercial development.

    He revealed that permission has been granted to a national, who originates from Cayon, to construct a shopping centre in the area.
     
    The parliamentary representative assured his constituents that additional plans for the area will be announced in the near future.
