Weekly Business Update (July, 15th 2011)

    BASSETERRE, St. Kitts – THE Eastern Caribbean Central Bank (ECCB) celebrates thirty five years since the EC dollar was pegged to the US dollar at a fixed rate of EC$2.70 to US$1.00 on 7 July 1976.
     
    In keeping with the mission statement of maintaining the stability of the EC dollar and the integrity of the banking system, the Eastern Caribbean Central Bank (ECCB) ensures that the EC dollar is adequately backed by foreign reserves to stimulate confidence in the currency among consumers and investors. At the end of the financial year 2010/2011, the foreign reserve backing was 95.53% which was above the legal benchmark of 60.0%.

     

    Presented below is the weekly update on the businesses around St. Kitts.

     

    The bigger, better network, Digicel has brought back their ‘Talk & Win Cash’ promotion where customers who talk for at least 3 minutes per day on one call qualify to win $2,000 weekly. Digicel’s weekly cash giveaway will commence this Friday 15th July on Digicel’s Entertainment Buzz from 2:30pm-3:00pm on Freedom FM and will alternate every Friday with Choice FM from 3:00pm – 3:30pm.

     

    Digicel’s Talk & Win CASH Promotion will run until Friday 2nd September with cash awarded to the winners.

     

    LIME held a Sales Event Wednesday (July 13), in the Independence Square and customers flocked the tents to take advantage of the ‘specials’ which included reduced prices on selected phones with phone cards, phone upgrades, give-aways and freebies.

     

    The telecommunications company apologises to its customers in the Dieppe Bay, St. Paul’s and Old Road to Newtown Ground region for an interruption in their telecommunications services. The technical team is working aggressively to have services restored as soon as possible.

     

    An advisory will be issued to update customers on the progress that has been made and LIME thanks its customers for their patience.

     

    Rituals opened their doors in downtown Basseterre on Tuesday (July 12) and the store became an instant hit. After the long awaited arrival, patrons wasted no time in checking out the new store and sampling what they deem a delightful experience.

     

    Scoops Inc. turns three  (July 16) and they had a swell party! The celebration took place at their Porte Zante location from 4:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. Children and adults enjoyed all day specials, give-aways, bouncing castles and musical entertainment.

     

    KVK Enterprises' Summer Camp 'Dare 2 Be Different' starts Monday (July 18) and runs throughout the entire summer with courses on Computer, Art, Reading Readiness, and Craft. Ongoing registration is available.

     

    Parents/Guardians can also get their children's school bags embroidered with the child/children's name for just EC$20.

     

    Two lucky customers, won EC$1 000 each, for participating in the TDC Group of Companies' ‘We Listened, You Save, You Win’ promotion.

     

    To qualify Customers/Clients who conduct business at the Home and Building Depots, Hire Purchase Departments, FINCO and the Automotive Division at a minimum of EC$100, become eligible and will receive an entry form for an opportunity to win the bi-monthly grand prize.
    The promotion ends on 31st December 2011.
