BASSETERRE, St. Kitts – AFTER contributing to a number of community and sporting events, the bigger, better network, Digicel has sponsored yet another sports action, the CFU Men’s Olympic Qualifying Tournament.

Digicel today (July 19) handed over a cheque of EC$10 000 to the St. Kitts Football Association (SKNFA) as a contribution to and in support of the upcoming events. The handover was done by Digicel’s Country Manager, Sean Latty. He presented the cheque to President of SKNFA, Anthony Johnso, in the presence of Marketing Manager, Marsha Lindo.

While presenting the cheque, Latty congratulated the SKNFA noting that they were pleased to be on board and happy to be involved in football. He also wished the team best of luck in the upcoming tournament.
Upon receiving the cheque, Johnson thanked Digicel for their kind and continued support, stating that the telecommunications company has been involved in the sport for the past few years.

“I want to thank Digcel for their continued involvement in football in St. Kitts and Nevis. Over the last two or three years, Digicel has basically become synonymous with football in St. Kitts and Nevis and the fact that they have continued to be involved even though these are difficult economic times, I think this is indicative of their commitment to football,” he said.

He also thanked Digicel for their tangible contributions in the form of phones and other equipment to the officials who have come in for the tournament. The football matches will be played on Thursday (July 21), Saturday (July 23), and Monday (July 25). St. Kitts will be going up against the St. Lucia, Antigua and Barbuda, and Haiti teams.

At the tournament, Digcel will be doing a “Kick for Cash” promotion where random customers will be chosen to kick and win cash.
