Girlfriend Allegedly Burns Down Boyfriend's Home in Sandy Point

(Basseterre; St. Kitts): The home of Elroy “Moonboy” Pemberton of the Ghaut, Sandy Point was completely destroyed by a fire on Wednesday, Sep. 19 at around 4: 35 a.m.

The wooden structure and all its contents including a computer, refrigerator, bed, stove and more all went up in smoke as the Fire and Rescue Services upon arrival were unable to save the contents of the home.

The firefighters then concentrated on the other wooden structure in the yard which was adjacent to the burning house.  This house, owned by George “Goolay” Gaton, only received minimal structural damage and it appeared that all the contents were still intact.
Some residents said that Pemberton who seemed distressed by the fire was allegedly making a report to the police station about a break-in when he saw the smoke and realized his home was burning.

Unconfirmed reports also suggest that the fire was started by his girlfriend after she found out that Pemberton was previously with another woman.

The young lady in question was in police custody at the Sandy Point Police Station the said morning, however, no word on whether she would be charged with a crime up to press time.

No official statement from the Police on the matter has been issued as yet.
