Basseterre, St. Kitts (August 13, 2004): The main road at St. Peters is next in line for a resurfacing project.
Parliamentary Representative for Constituency #8 Hon. Cedric Liburd disclosed that the resurfacing of roads in this area has always been a priority.
“As Minister, I decided that every year we were going to do a portion of the roads from Stapleton to Basseterre,” he said citing the completion of the section between Stapleton to John England Village.
He explained that the resurfacing project had to be temporarily suspended due to natural phenomena.“The reason why the roads were not completed in terms of resurfacing ... was because ... we had five hurricanes in four years,” he stressed.

Minister Liburd said that the project is now set to resume and this will provide added comfort to motorists traveling to St. Peters. “I want to say to you that the resurfacing of the St. Peters main road (from the playing field to the Moravion Church) ... will be started in the month of August 2004.”
The parliamentary representative also indicated that the roundabout at the Moravion Church will be reorganised by the Public Works Department so as to allow buses and other motor vehicles to discharge passengers safely, and not impede the free flow of traffic.
The project has been enthusiastically welcomed by residents of the area. A number of persons thanked Minister Liburd for his service to the country.
