(Basseterre; St. Kitts): Former Miss St. Kitts-Nevis 2004-2005 Johan Kelly and Sonia Boddie celebrated the St. Kitts-Nevis Independence Day at their University in Mexico.

The event was described as memorable and commemorative as they also received assistance from the foreign students at the school.

The event was also attended by other Caribbean students who got a taste of the Federation’s independence celebration and its significance.

The prayer was said by Kelly while Boddie gave a speech about the importance of the colours in the national flag and an account on the Federation’s journey to achieve Independence and after.

The National anthem was then played as Kelly and another student pulled the cords on a pole to raise the national flag high.

They then gave out pins of the national flag to five different members of staff including the school's president who has made their attendance at the school comfortable.

Following the ceremony the University organized drinks and snacks and the St. Kitts and Nevis National flag now flies high on our their school's campus marking the day very memorable.

Kelly is a scholarship student studying in Mexico among six other Kittitians studying in Mexico. Boddie and Kelly are the only two Kittitians at their school which also includes other Caribbean students hailing from Antigua and Dominica.
