Remanded to Her Majesty’s Prison
BASSETERRE, St. Kitts – INROADS have been made with investigations into the gun find which occurred at the Sea Port on July 14, and one person was officially arrested and charged by police.
A police press release issued earlier today (July 21) informs that Bruce Alexander of Millionaire Street, Basseterre was arrested and charged on July 20 on 13 warrants in the first instance.
According to a press release previously issued by the Customs and Excise Department, a number of items were discovered by customs officers who were conducting a routine patrol of the Transit Shed 1.
The items were discovered in an “unmarked package hidden in a remote area of the said warehouse.”
The press release named the items discovered as being “1 Calibre .380 pistol, 2 lower receivers, 3 upper receivers, 4 magazine clips with 38 rounds of ammunition (30 of which are hollow point)”.
The police press release which informs of Alexander’s arrest, however, explains that the warrants on which he was charged are for “the importation without the appropriate permit, and possession without the appropriate licence of the following:
a. One Glock .40 semi automatic pistol;
b. One Kel Tech Luger 9mm semi automatic pistol;
c. One Kurz back up .380 semi automatic pistol;
d. One high point model C9 9mm firearm upper receiver;
e. One Glock .40 firearm magazine;
f. 26 rounds .40 ammunition; and
g. 12 rounds of 9mm ammunition.
Days ago, the Customs Department disseminated a press release indicating that on July 18, search exercises were conducted at a corporate entity located at George Street and a residence located at Millionaire Street.
The release also explained that one person was in custody assisting with investigations into the find.
SKNVibes understands that Alexander is that individual and one of the searches was conducted at his place of residence.
This publication was reliably informed that Alexander was remanded to Her Majesty’s Prison this morning. However, the police have indicated that, “This arrest does not signify the end of the investigations as police are still following up with leads.”
