Press Release

BASSETERRE St. Kitts, July 21st 2011 - Contestants for this year’s Miss Caribbean Culture Queen Pageant are due to begin arriving in the Federation from Thursday, 21st July, 2011, in preparation for their contest over the weekend.

Organizers of the event have been expressing much satisfaction with the high level of corporate support that they have been receiving despite the difficult financial times being experienced in the country.

One of the key partners throwing their support behind the competition is the well known shipping company, Hobson Enterprises, (HE), which recently made a presentation of a cash donation to an official of the organizing committee.

In acceptance of the generous donation from Hobson Enterprises, Mr. Derrick V Fraites, Director for Marketing and Sponsorship, told MiyVue.com in an exclusive interview, that his committee was extremely elated by the decision of the company, to step forward in support of the contest, which this year will be staged in two parts.

Fraites said that he must give credit to Hobson Enterprises for their contribution, which in part will assist directly in meeting the costs associated with certain aspects of the production of the pageant.

“Overall I can say that we’ve been overwhelm with the amount of support we’ve gotten from the businesses on the island of St. Kitts and I must mention that some persons came forward, even though we had not approached them. They had just heard about the pageant and wanted to know what part they can play. I must give credit to Hobson Enterprises,” said Mr. Fraites.

Meanwhile, the Managing Director for Hobson Enterprises, Mr. Damion Hobson, said that his company is mindful of its obligations to provide tangible support to the community in which it operates and is always willing to support worthwhile initiatives, such as this pageant.

Mr. Hobson continued by assuring Mr. Fraites, just before making the check presentation, at the company headquarters last week, that the promotion and development of our culture is important to St. Kitts & Nevis, and the hosting of this pageant, that brings so many regional participants, has to be seen as a strategic tool for the advancement of Caribbean culture.

The Miss Caribbean Culture pageant will be held, with the first part taking place at Carnival Village St. Kitts on Saturday, 23rd July and the second part on Monday, 25th July, at the Cultural Complex, in Nevis.

The leg of the contest in St. Kitts will feature the Ambassadorial Wear and Speech and the Swim Suit segments in One and Two pieces.

A cocktail reception has been planned for the contestants at the Circus Grill in Basseterre on Friday evening, 22nd July, 2011.
