BASSETERRE, St. Kitts – A young woman was earlier tonight (July 21) shot in the arm while conversing with a male companion in Catherine Julius Street, Ponds Extension, Newtown.

Reports reaching SKNVibes state that at approximately 7:25 p.m. while 20-year-old Latisha Joshua was seated on a chair conversing with her boyfriend in the yard of his parents’ residence, a lone, unmasked gunman fired a shot at them from the rear fence which struck her in the upper left arm.

This publication learnt that the gunman had intended to fire more shots but the gun appeared to have jammed and he fled the scene before anyone could have recognised or apprehended him.

On arrival at the crime scene, SKNVibes also learnt that a unit from the Emergency Medical Services had transported the wounded woman to the JNF General Hospital where she underwent emergency medical treatment.

A number of officers from the Special Services Unit and the Criminal Investigation Department were also at the crime scene conducting investigations but, at press time, no suspect was in custody.
