September 2007 Criminal Assizes Open with 17 New Matters

(Basseterre; St. Kitts): The new 2007 September Assizes opened with a total of 17 new cases and 30 cases traversed from the last Assizes.
Included in the Assizes are four murder cases, and nine counts of breaking, including building breaking and larceny.
There were also ten counts of sex related crimes stemming from rape and indecent assault to unlawful carnal knowledge.
Tacked in the Assizes as well are three robbery cases.
Among the new matters are that of Vinrick John, who was charged with murdering a 20-year-old man. His case will be heard on October, 22. A list of the other cases is included below.
Joshua Roach will answer to a charge of killing a man in Challengers on October 25th and Fitzroy Challenger, Jamal Bradshaw and Gregory Anthony Zakers, will also answer to the charge of murder on October 30th.

The murder case involving Lumumba Matthew and Justin Bass is also set to be tried. They are charged with attempted murder and wounding with intent on Jan. 12, 2007 at Bayfords. They both pleaded not guilty to the charges.
Bernell Duncan will stand trial on October 23rd. He was charged with attempted murder, wounding with intent and unlawful wounding. Duncan pleaded not guilty to all three charges. The Prosecution alleged that on Aug. 5 2005, at Sir Gilley’s Mountain in Sandy Point, Duncan did unlawfully wound Earlston Warner. The case is set for trial on Oct. 23.
Phillip Jones pleaded not guilty to wounding with intent and unlawfully wounding Carlene Joseph on Aug. 25, 2006. His case is set to be heard on Oct. 24.
Juan Fyfield pleaded not guilty to the charges of wounding with intent and also unlawfully wounding Shane De Grosse on Jan. 1, 2007.
~~Adz:Left~~ Fyfield will return to court on Oct. 29 for his case to be tried.
Philmore Matthew, charged with indecent assault of a certain female, will have his case tried on 18th October. He pleaded not guilty.
The prosecution alleged, Matthew committed the crime at Shadwell.
Leon Phillip and Jervin Dowell were both charged with having a firearm in their possession with intent to endanger life. The incident occurred on Sep. 9 2006 at Roxborough Street, Newtown. They both pleaded not guilty and will have their case heard on Oct. 24.
Darren Gibson was charged with wounding with intent and unlawful wounding which occurred on April 15, 2004. His case is set to be tried on Oct. 18.
The first case will be tried tomorrow September 26th. Khoy Jeffers, Dwayne Bridgewater, Javez Caines and Karim Browne are all charged with wounding with intent and unlawful wounding.
There will also be a second matter expected to be tried tomorrow and that is the robbery case involving Ivan Edwards, Denzil Edwards, Rodelle Clarke, Jamal Foreman and Delroy Tota.
