Blue Devils win SKABA Junior Championship and ends Sandy Point Fruta Falcons dream of a 6th straight title

    Reinaldo George named finals MVP

     

    BASSETERRE St.Kitts, July 22nd, 2011 - The Sandy Point Fruta Falcons dominance of the SKABA Junior division was ended on Thursday evening with a game 3 finals loss to the Blue Devils. In a thrilling and exciting game the Blue Devils played an exceptional game to out last the powerhouse of Sandy Point.

     

    After splitting the first two games it came down the the final and deciding game 3 with Sandy Point as the favorites having won the last 5 straight division titles. The first half ended with the Blue Devils holding a relatively comfortable 31-19 lead.

     

    The 3rd Quarter was much of the same as the Blue Devils maintained their 12 point lead. However the Sandy Pointers showed the heart that made them champions over the last 5 seasons as they roared back in the 4th Quarters to come within 2 points in the last seconds of the game.

     

    Blue Devils hung on for dear life and were able to stave off the Fruta Falcons last quarter charge to win their first Junior Division title with a 79-77 victory.

     

    The Blue Devils were lead by Reinaldo George who led all scorers with 28 points. Georges efforts earned him the SKABA Junior Finals MVP award. George was able assisted by Stacey Hobson with 20 points and 7 rebounds.

     

    The Falcons were led by Dylin. Liddie with 16 points and 11 rebounds and Steven Rawlins with 12 points and 12 rebounds.

     

    This is the first SKABA Junior division title for the Blue Devils.
