--Art students at the Lyn Jeffers private school on Craddock Road are privileged. During the Easter break, they will travel to Spain.  Their art teacher, Mrs Micaiah Robinson said in an interview.

The aim of the trip is to enable students to put theory into practice by appreciating art in various parts of the world.  This will not be the first trip the students are making.  In June, seven students accompanied by Karen Peterson, their teacher Micaiah Robinson and a parent, J.P.Beauregard travelled to USA.

In New York they visited the Museum of Modern Art and watched a Broadway show.  The students and their teachers stayed in Hostelling International hotel, West of Central Park.

“The students were conducted on a private tour by curators.  This enabled them to begin to talk intelligently about art,” Karen said.  The students watched “Today Show” live and had an opportunity to meet the show’s host, Meredith.

In Philadelphia they were exposed to architecture by visiting a famous architect who works from his private residence and has developed architectural plans for 150 buildings in Lancaster, Pennsylvania.

Their art tour took them to Barnes Foundation, which is the largest private art collection in the world.  By this time, the students had begun to compare work of famous artists and had begun to pick certain techniques.

Lyn Jeffers School encourages, crossing subjects; Teacher’s network.  For example, said Karen, History and Art go hand in hand as well as Geography, “This helps the teachers to work together.  It helps the students to retain information.  It also enables students to research.”

The students raised the funds for the museum visits, Broadway show and dinner by picking up trash for Nisbett Plantation and Golden Rock.
They also assisted at the Lyn Jeffers School jumble sales and organised bake sales.

The students received three monetary donations, one from the Four Seasons Resort Villas and the other two donations have been put towards the envisaged trip to Spain.  Deon and Nelcia Daniel have contributed towards the next "Lyn Jeffers Globe Trotters" trip as well as Mr. and Mrs. Renshaw, and friends of Karen Peterson.

The trip to Spain will be from April 11 to April 15.  The overall aim of the trip is to teach students’ Spanish culture and European art, “Barcelona architecture is magnificent.  The idea is to hit every continent.”
