Charlestown Nevis (August 18, 2004) It was in an effort to continue the drive for efficiency within the Nevis Island Administration, as several ministries were reorganized as well as several persons were transferred.
Speaking to the Government Information Services on Tuesday 17, Permanent Secretary of Human Resources, Mrs. Venetta Hobson-Moving announced that some changes took effect as of Monday August 16, 2004. She noted that the changes were effected with the approval of the Public Service Commission.
Mrs. Moving pointed out that she has assumed the overall responsibility as Permanent Secretary within the Premier’s Ministry as well as Human Resources, which followed the decision taken by the administration to consolidate the Premier’s Ministry and Human Resources.
According to Mrs. Moving, the administration felt that there was need to tighten the overall supervision of various ministries, especially the Ministry of Education which is very large.
Hence, the former Permanent Secretary of Infrastructural Development, Physical Planning, Natural Resources, Environment, Communications, Works, Public Utilities and Post, Mr. Elvin Bailey now assumes the position of Permanent Secretary of Education.

The Budget Director, Mr. Ernie Stapleton replaced Mr. Bailey. Mrs. Jennifer Hodge, former Principal of the Charlestown Secondary School, has filled the office of Principal Education Officer, while her then Deputy, Mr. Edison Elliot will act as Principal of the Charlestown Secondary School when it reopens in September 2004.
Meanwhile, Mr. Denzil Stanley, one of the three engineers at the Public Works Department has been promoted to Director of Public Works Department, effective July 1st, 2004.
