Illegal drugs found; confiscated by Police

Basseterre; St. Kitts: The continuous efforts by the Police and the St. Kitts- Nevis Defence Force eradicate illegal drugs produced fruit recently, when their combined efforts resulted in the discovery of quantities of cannabis (marijuana) and cocaine.
According to a Police report, the cannabis was worth an estimate EC$20,000 while the cocaine had a street value of US$20,000.
With regards to the cannabis discovery, Charles “Aballo” Matthew, of Cunningham Street, was charged with “possession of a controlled drug” and “possession with intent to supply a controlled drug” after a search of his home yielded the find.

A number of cannabis plants were also discovered in an abandoned house next to Matthew’s residence. The plants were uprooted and confiscated by the Police.
With respect to the cocaine no one has been held accountable for the find. The quantity of cocaine was found along the fencing of a property in Newtown. A preliminary search of the house on the property yielded nothing.
The Police and the Defence Force continue to work assiduously and solicit the support of the general in the fight against illegal drugs.
