Anthony Phillip on his way to serve an 18 month sentence for Receiving |
(Basseterre; St. Kitts): Even though Anthony Phillip said that he was unaware that his roommate Leon Samuel had stolen a JVC Equalizer, His Lordship Francis Belle still sentenced him to a term of 18-months for ‘Receiving’ the said Equalizer.
“You must have known what Samuel was up to,” Belle told Phillip. “But it seems as though you turned a blind eye to Samuel.”
Phillip, 26, pled guilty to receiving the Equalizer which was found in his home on Dec. 5, 2006.
Meanwhile Keymoy Powell, received a lenient sentencing of a fine of $1,000 to be paid in three months default 18 months in prison for stealing items costing EC$3, 578.00. The items included a cheque book belonging to Eugene Springette.
Powell’s brother, Anthony Lawrence, made a passionately plea for his brother to be given a chance and receive a lesser charge.
~~Adz:Right~~ Lawrence who is a Pastor said that his brother had been living with him since their mother died and since then encountered problems.
He also said that his brother has also made an effort to live on his own and is taking care of his own bills.
His Lordship told Powell that he will give him one last chance to rehabilitate himself.
