    Police Seeking Assistance of the Public in Apprehending Lennox "Jah-Low" Gumbs

     

    Lennox “Jah-Low” Gumbs
    On Tuesday 2nd October 2007 officers of the Royal St. Christopher and Nevis Police Force and the St. Kitts-Nevis Defence Force carried out an eradication and search operation in the Phillips Mountain area.

     

    As a result the officers discovered five (500) cannabis plants ranging from one to three and a half (1 – 3½) feet in height, being cultivated. The plants were uprooted and a number of persons are presently assisting police with their investigation which is still ongoing.
     
    The plants which were found have an estimated street value of $6,000.00 Eastern Caribbean Currency.
     
    On Monday 1st October 2007, a sixteen-year-old male and an adult David Morton both of Cayon Village were charge with the offence of “Unlawful Carnal Knowledge” committed on the 4th and 5th September 2007 respectively.
     
    On Tuesday 2nd October 2007, Perez Liddie of Trafalgar Village was charged with the offence of “Unlawful Carnal Knowledge” committed on 20th July 2007 at Trafalgar Village, Basseterre.
     
    On Monday 1st October 2007, officers of the Strike Force Unit discovered and uprooted nine (9) cannabis plants found growing in a ghaut at Shadwell Estate. No one was charged in relation to the find and investigations are ongoing.
     

    At the Basseterre Magistrate Court on Monday 1st October 2007, Michael Richards of West Bourne Street, Basseterre was convicted on a charged of “Larceny” committed on 25th May 2007. Richards was fined $800.00 to be paid in six (6) weeks or in default to serve one (1) month imprisonment.
     
    At the High Court on Monday 1st and Tuesday 2nd October 2007 the following persons were sentenced after having previously pleaded guilty to the indictments brought against them;
     
    • Leon Samuel of Newtown, who was brought before the court on three (3) indictments for the offence of “House Breaking and Larceny” committed on 28th November 2006, was sentenced to serve five (5) years imprisonment on each count to run concurrently with each count.

    • Leon Samuel and Anthony Phillip who were indicted on a charge of “Building Breaking and Larceny” committed on 29th November 2006, pleaded guilty to the offence of “Receiving Stolen Goods”. Samuel was sentenced to serve seven (7) years imprisonment to run concurrently with his previous sentence of five (5) years. Phillip was sentenced to serve eighteen (18) months imprisonment.
     
    • Kimoy Powell who was indicted on a charge of “Building Breaking and Larceny” committed between 30th April and 1st May 2006, pleaded guilty to the lesser charge of “Receiving”. She was fined $1,000.00 to be paid in three (3) months or in default to serve eighteen (18) months imprisonment.
     
    Also at the High Court Richard Morris of Conaree Village, who was indicted on a charge of “Murder” committed on 17th April 2006, pleaded guilty to the lesser charge of “Manslaughter” and his sentence was postponed until Wednesday 3rd October 2007.
     
    The Police are seeking the assistance of the Public in apprehending nineteen-year-old Lennox Gumbs of St. Johnson Village, Basseterre. A warrant is in existence for the arrest of Gumbs who is wanted for Shooting at a Basseterre resident on Friday 28th September 2007 in the St. Johnson Village area.
     
    Any person(s) who may know of the whereabouts of Lennox “Jah-Low” Gumbs is urged to contact the Criminal Investigations Department at 465-2241 Extension 220 / 230 / 236 or by calling the Police hotline number 707 and they can do so anonymously. Gumbs is believed to be armed and dangerous therefore members of the public are advised to exercise caution if confronted by him.
