Charlestown Nevis (August 19, 2004) The Nevis Housing and Land Development Corporation (NHLDC), earlier today, contributed to the development of the health sector on the island with the presentation of a monetary donation valued at US$10,000 to be used at the Alexandra Hospital.

At a brief ceremony held at the Outpatient Department of the hospital, General Manager of NHLDC, Mr. Todd Lescott expressed his pleasure in handing over the donation.  “On behalf of the NHLDC, I am happy to present to you a cheque for US$10,000 towards your equipment upgrade,” he said to the representative of the Ministry of Health, Mr. Kingsley Elliot.

Lescott expressed that it was his hope that the donation would be of significance to the ministry as they continue to deliver first class health care to all Nevisians and visitors alike, and added, “I do hope that the corporation would be in a position to do something similar in the not too distant future”.

Responding to the donation, Mr. Elliot said, “I wish to say thanks to Mr. Lescott and his corporation for the generous contribution. I’m certain that we would be calling on him in the near future, and not only on him but others in the community.”

Mr. Elliot took the opportunity to hand over the gift to the Hospital Administrator, Mrs. Joslyn Liburd.  Mrs. Liburd expressed thanks on behalf of all of the Alexandra Hospital, including staff and patients for the timely donation. She said, “I want to thank the corporation very much and we trust that others would come forward with such donations.  Again, Sir, we want to thank you very much.”
