    (Basseterre; St. Kitts):
The daughter of James Williams who lost his life due to an altercation with Richard Morris broke down in tears at the Basseterre High Court, today Wednesday, Oct. 3.

Valencia Archibald who resides in Gingerland, Nevis said that she took her father’s death very hard.

“It’s hard for me,” she said. “And I am begging the court to please send him to prison.”

Archibald was summoned to the court when His Lordship Francis Belle said that he wanted to hear from the victim’s side of the family and the impact the death had on them before delivering his sentence.

Archibald had to wait a few seconds to get ‘herself’ together before she turned to the accused and ask him what had her father done to him to make him want to take him from her.

She said that her father was there for her since she was very young.

Before His Lordship issued a five year sentence upon Morris, his Lawyer Jason Hamilton informed the court that his client indicated that he suffers from kidney problems.

Hamilton also said that he would like the court to take into consideration that there was bad blood between the accused and the victim. He also said that threats were issued between both of them and that the action of his client wasn’t one with intent of ill will.

His Lordship told Morris that he will get the benefit from the court, for not wasting the court’s time and took into consideration that he has already spent 18 months in prison.

“This shows that you have decided to take responsibility for the matter, however I think the best thing is prison time because already there are too much tolerance for violence in our society and more and more crime are happening now,” the judge said.

After his judgment was handed down Morris asked the court what will happen to his swollen feet he endured from the beating of Williams.

“Right now my feet are swollen from the beating that man gave me and I also have pressure and sugar now,” he said.

The judge responded by telling Morris that his lawyer should know what to do concerning those circumstances and asked him to step down.
