Nevisian lawyer to be sworn in as Federation's Seventh Leader of the Opposition since Independence

BASSETERRE, ST. KITTS, OCTOBER 23RD 2007 (CUOPM) – The Federation of St. Kitts and Nevis gets a new Leader of the Opposition on Wednesday.
Nevisian-born Hon. Mark A.G. Brantley, who was elected in August to fill the Nevis 9 seat (St. Paul’s/St. John’s), left vacant by the sudden death of the Hon. Malcolm Guishard, will take the Oath of Allegiance during a Sitting of the St. Kitts and Nevis National Assembly tomorrow Wednesday 24th October.
The CCM Parliamentarian will be administered the Oath by Clerk of the lawmaking body, Mr. Jose Lloyd.
Mr. Brantley, who is a Nominated Member in the Nevis Island Assembly, will become the Federation’s Seventh Loyal Leader of the Opposition since independence and the second career lawyer to hold the post.
Previous holders of the post of Her Majesty’s Loyal Opposition in the National Assembly are His Excellency Sir Lee L. Moore (Labour); Hon. Charles Mills (Labour); Hon. Dr. Denzil L. Douglas (Labour); Hon. Hugh Heyliger (PAM); Hon. Vance Amory (CCM) and Hon. Malcolm Guishard (CCM).
