SKNTTA host ITTF Level 1 Coaching Course from August 8-13, 2011

    BASSETERRE St.Kitts, August 3rd, 2011 - The St. Kitts-Nevis Table Tennis Association (SKNTTA) will host an ITTF Level 1 Coaching Course from Monday 8th August to Saturday 13th August, 2011 at the Anglican Church Hall, Victoria Road Basseterre. There will be 24 hours of instruction given over 6 days with sessions planned each afternoon from 4.30pm – 8.30pm.

     

    The ITTF Level 1 Coaching Course is intended as a starting point for coaches. The Level 1 programcovers all events in a rudimentary manner by emphasizing fundamentals, rules, and instruction techniques.The Level 1 Course prepares an individual to coach at the primary and high school, clubs,and introductory table tennis level within the community clubs, NGOs and business houses.

     

    Swiss Coach Georg Silberschmidt is the ITTF Course Conductor and has conducted several Courses within the English-speaking Caribbean. His third visit to the Federation, Georg will also oversee the Grassroots Table Tennis Camp held during the morning session between 9.30am to 12.30pm at the Anglican Church Hall.

     

    The SKNTTA is anticipating attendees from within the schools, community groups and corporate St.Kitts and Nevis. Interested persons can contact the SKNTTA Genersal Secretary, Mr. Troy Mills at 668-2055, or the Ministry of Sports to register for the ITTF Level 1 Course and/or the Grassroots Table Tennis Camp.

     

    The SKNTTA is driven by the mandate to become a vehicle for youth development through sports in the Federation. As such, we accept the task to create roadmaps to steer the youth away from a life of crime, violence and gangs thus enabling them to become well-rounded citizens.

     

    To adequately deliver on this mandate, the SKNTTA intends to expand the pool of qualified coaches and administrators in addition to the accessibility for the youths to play table tennis, in partnership with the communities, organisations and business houses.
