Basseterre, St. Kitts (September 08, 2004): The growth of organised volleyball continues to gain momentum after the national female team captured the OECS championship title on August 29.

The St. Kitts Amateur Volleyball Association will be hosting a Teacher’s Course for school instructors to become familiar with the rules of the game and how it is played. The course is part of the Sports Aid Programme developed by the International Federation of Volleyball (FIVB).

FIVB coach and instructor Dr. Rostislav Voralek will facilitate the sessions which run from September 10 to 16.

A ceremony will be held at the Warner Park pavilion to declare the workshop open. Officials from the Ministry of Information, Culture, Youth and Sport are expected to be in attendance along with members of the volleyball association and other supporters.

Volleyball association president Glenn Quinlan said he expects approximately 25 persons to participate. He explained that the course includes theoretical and practical sessions.

On September 16, course participants will stage an exhibition match and will be awarded for completing the programme.

The Department of Sport has reportedly been very supportive in the overall effort to promote interest in volleyball in St. Kitts and Nevis.
