NIA Receives Kuwaiti Fund Assistance and holds discussions with Potential investors

(Charlestown, Nevis- Tuesday, October 23, 2007): Premier of Nevis, Hon. Joseph Parry returned to the Federation on Monday after attending the International Monetary Fund (IMF) Annual Meetings in Washington DC.
Accompanying the Premier was Mr Laurie Lawrence, Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Finance.
“I feel extremely good about the various meetings that I attended and I am proud to say that funding from the Kuwaiti Fund is in place for our planned improvement to the Nevis Airport,” said Premier Parry. He noted that the result of these very fruitful meetings would be a number of benefits for the island.
The Premier noted that the assistance is very crucial as the Nevis Island Administration seeks to expand the Nevis Airport and add to its Tourism sector.
He said that the meetings granted Nevis the opportunity to thank the Kuwaiti Fund representatives who expressed a continued commitment to assisting Nevis in future projects. ~~Adz:Right~~
Meanwhile, Premier Parry recently held investment meetings in Colorado and New York, in an effort to expand and market the Nevis Financial Services Sector.
“The Investment meetings I had in Colorado were excellent as it provided me an opportunity to engage in talks with persons that can assist Nevis to become a major player in the financial industry”, Premier Parry said.
While in New York, Mr. Parry and Mr. Lawrence held discussions with Mr. Richard Green and representatives of the world famous investment group Smith and Barneys.
According to the Premier the meetings were designed to find ways of bringing Nevis lucrative investments and assisting with creating a vibrant financial service thus resulting in continued growth and development.
